Dr. Edward Maynes, Principal

Dr. Maynes joined the Chesterfield County family in 2005. He taught English to 6th and 8th graders at Providence Middle School for six years until starting a career in administration at Bailey Bridge Middle School in 2011. After one year as a Bear, Dr. Maynes joined the Ravens’ Nest as an Assistant Principal for three years before becoming principal at Elizabeth Davis Middle School. In 2019, Dr. Maynes joined the Sailors’ at Swift Creek as Principal.

Dr. Maynes received his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1999, his Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2010, and his Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2021.

Beth Morris, Associate Principal – 8th Grade Administrator

Beth Morris spent 17 years in the classroom, mostly at James River High School, before moving into school leadership. She spent three years at Providence Middle school, where she served as dean of students and assistant principal. For the last two years, Beth has been at Matoaca Middle as the associate principal. In those roles, she has worked with a range of departments, including special education, English, social studies, and world languages. As a former English teacher, Beth is most passionate about supporting student literacy, and she is thrilled to join the Swift Creek family!

Shannon Bramble, Assistant Principal – 7th Grade Administrator

Ms. Bramble is excited to become a Swift Creek Middle School Sailor for the 2019-20 school year. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and Masters in Educational Leadership at Old Dominion University. Her early career started in Norfolk Public Schools where she taught 4th and 5th graders at Granby Elementary. Once her family relocated to Chesterfield, she has been a member of Chesterfield County School System since 2005. Her first years in the county were spent as a Matoaca Middle School Warrior teaching Social Studies and English to 7th graders. She then became an Assistant Principal for the same school. Also, Ms. Bramble served Salem Middle School from 2015-19 as an Assistant Principal. This year, she has joined Swift Creek as the new Assistant Principal.

Jessica Hawkes, Dean of Students – 6th Grade Administrator

Ms. Hawkes began her career with Chesterfield County in 2002 at Carver Middle School as a 6th and 7th grade science teacher.  She then moved on to Falling Creek Middle and Providence Middle for a few years before beginning her career in administration as Dean of Students at Swift Creek Middle School.  Ms. Hawkes earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology at Colby-Sawyer College and will be finishing up with her Masters of Education in Administration and Supervision at the University of Virginia in December.
